Customer Showcase: Tri-Wall (Thailand) - Total Value from Clever Designs and the Right Materials

Tri-Wall (Thailand), founded in 1989, is the local subsidiary of the Tri-Wall Group, a well-respected establishment that is synonymous around t h e globe with high-performance packaging. With four sites in Thailand, including a technologically-advanced factory in the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate (Hemaraj ESIE), the company offers its clients customized packaging solutions that are ingeniously-designed, lighter in weight and cost-efficient. Medium and heavy industries from all segments, including the automotive and aeronautics sectors, place their trust on Tri-Wall to meet their packaging challenges and ensure handling, storage, transport and delivery in the best possible conditions.

Tri-Wall’s story started over 60 years ago in New Jersey, USA. Mr. Abe Goldstein, a maker of small boxes, invented a manufacturing process for packaging, featuring three layers of heavy-duty corrugated materials, hence the name Tri-Wall Pakฎ. This quickly led to the creation of partnerships in the UK, Europe and Japan, then in Korea, Taiwan, Southeast Asia and China.

“Thailand has become a very important base for the Group,” says Mr. Sumate Tannumsaeng, Managing Director of Tri-Wall (Thailand) Ltd. “The automotive and electronics industries, among others, have expanded tremendously over the last decades, giving us the immense opportunity to grow our business as well.” Today, the Thai operations are spread out close to its clients, in order to offer them the most efficient services at all times.

“At Tri-Wall, our philosophy is ‘the Only One’. We like to think that our company is unique, that we can provide customers not just with normal packaging, but also tailor-designed packaging to meet very precise specifications. “We enjoy these challenges. Getting total value from clever designs and the right materials gives us a sense of fulfillment and pride,” he relates proudly.

Mr. Sumate has been with the company for more than 22 years, and is very familiar with the needs of his customers, having spent the early years of his career in the import-export sector. At Tri-Wall’s Hemaraj ESIE factory, he manages a dynamic team of approximately 140 people. He is a boss with a friendly working style, treating his employees more like partners. “They see you as their partner as well, and this makes the atmosphere warm, yet very professional. Things get done efficiently because everyone feels responsible.” He believes that you get the best out of your employees by treating them with respect and dignity and by making them proud of their work.

Mr. Sumate says that there were several reasons that made the Tri-Wall Group select Hemaraj ESIE as the location for its third production base in Thailand. He cited “excellent facilities,” “close proximity to customers,” and “solution-oriented staff” as three main factors. Tri-Wall also has a fourth site in Thailand, at the Hemaraj Ready Built Factory Park, in Kabinburi, Prachinburi. “I am impressed with the level of professionalism here. Aside from offering reasonable prices, Hemaraj takes good care of its customers. I can say that Hemaraj’s world-class facilities and exceptional customer support play a big role in Tri-Wall’s good image,” he added.

Mr. Sumate commends Hemaraj’s policies to protect natural resources and keep the earth clean and green. “We use human-planted pine, not wood taken from natural forests, to create products that are recyclable and reusable. We also have a system that makes our packaging returnable, so that less trees are cut, less energy is wasted and less waste is generated. This goes in line with Hemaraj’s continuing effort to always look for sustainable solutions to protect the environment. Tri-Wall and Hemaraj share a respect for nature so that we can protect our resources for ourselves, as well as for future generations,” he explained.

Clearly, Tri-Wall is poised to forge ahead in Thailand and the rest of the region, as it brings fresh impetus through packaging solutions and innovations for key players in the industrial sector.
