WHA Embraces Digital Platform Concept Investing over Baht 1.3 Billion with 3 Data Centers to Serve Industrial Clients Nationwide

By fulfilling its “Smart District” Vision, WHA will become the First Industrial Solution Provider in Thailand to Propose Total ICT Solution and Services

Bangkok/ 27 June 2016 – WHA Corporation Pcl (WHA), the leading provider for comprehensive real estate, logistics and industrial solutions in Thailand, is fulfilling its vision of a “Smart District” by providing a digital platform to serve its industrial customers nationwide. With an initial investment of Baht 1.3 billion, the first three data centers will be built on Bangkok’s Vibhavadi-Rangsit and Bangna-Trad roads, as well as in Rayong and can serve to all customers both inside and outside the industrial estates.

WHA has revealed its plans to support the government’s economic revolution model “Thailand 4.0”, by building state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and communication systems using fibre-optic networks in its industrial estates, as well as building three pilot data centers. These initiatives will strengthen its potential to sustainable growth.

Ms. Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, Group Chief Executive Officer of WHA Corporation Pcl, said, “We realize the great potential of game-changing technology as it will help enhance not only the company’s capacity to grow its business, but also enable customers to grow their own businesses through more comprehensive and integrated services. Currently, our customers are quite varied, covering all industries including logistics, automotive, consumer goods, petrochemical, steel and metal, building material, medical & healthcare and electronics. Although they also have various levels of IT development, they will benefit from advanced technologies to help manage and operate their businesses with greater accuracy and efficiency in terms of production, quality control, just-in-time delivery, etc.”

“This is behind our decision to invest in IT infrastructure and communication systems, as well as develop comprehensive digital platforms and data centers to support of those 4 business areas, this includes Industrial Estates, and Logistics customers base in both Thai and MNCs companies,” she added.

“These three data centers, which will be built based on NTT Communications’ technology design standards, will be developed as a stand-alone Dedicated Data Center facility, catering to our requirements, such as energy management for lower electricity consumption and good ventilation design of ceiling height at about 10 meters. In addition, our strong partnerships with leading global IT companies make us different from other providers in the market. We also take into account other international standards including the location of our data centers, environmental friendliness, fibre-optics network and information security, as the most significant factors.” Mr. Kraitos Ongchaisak, Chief Executive Officer of WHA Infonite Holding Co, Ltd. said.

WHA’s first pilot data centers will be located in three strategic areas, as follows:

  • Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, with 100 racks, set to become operational in November 2016, covering approximately 400 square meters
  • Bangna-Trad Road, with over 800 racks, set to become operational in December 2016, covering over approximately 4,500 square meters
  • Hemaraj’s Industrial Estate, with over 850 racks, set to become operational in Q1 2018, covering 5,000 square meters

In addition, WHA will also provide various managed services and digital solutions to serve its logistics and industrial clients, including FTTx, Cloud Computing Service, Equipment Rental, IT Outsourcing, VMS-Video Management Service, Telephony with IP-PBX technology and Call Center, E-mail, Website, Firewall, Security and Storage, Backup system, Colocation and Access Control System. Customers will be able to choose these services and solutions on a pay per use basis, according to their specific requirements. The great flexibility offered by WHA’s digital platform will make the company stand out in this industry.

Estimating data center revenues to reach approximately THB 700 million by 2017, WHA is already planning two additional data centers - in Hemaraj’s Industrial Estates.
