WHA Group Mobile Medical Units Bring Healthcare and Happiness to the Community
04/07/2018For many years, WHA Group has been setting aside a substantial medical and health care needs for members of neighboring communities around WHA’s industrial estates in the EEC area.
With the elderly, the disabled and the underprivileged people in mind, WHA Group deploys mobile units that go to municipalities and districts where residents have little or no access to medical services. In these places, there may be no hospital nearby, or the people may have no transportation to seek medical assistance.
Doctors and nurses accompany the mobile medical units that provide free basic medical check-ups for patients. They are also on hand to offer advice on health or hygiene, and dispense basic medicines and supplies. This is an excellent way to ensure that the basic needs of residents around the 9+ WHA industrial estates are met.
Another type of mobile medical mission organized by WHA Group goes to the villagers to check their eyesight. To ensure that vision is not neglected, the mobile unit goes around to provide free optical check-ups for community members. They are also checked for common conditions such as dry eyes, cataracts and glaucoma, as well as more serious concerns that could lead to blindness or visual impairment. They are taught how to use eyedrops and to take proper care of their eyes, while eyeglasses are distributed for free to those who need them.
One of the most successful mobile medical projects is the blood donation activity, which attracts hundreds of donors each time. Realizing the importance of having a safe supply of blood, WHA Group organizes blood collection at different venues, so that management and staff, customers and employees, and able members of the community people can donate blood that is handed over to the Thai Red Cross Society for use in the hospitals. Many lives can be saved when the safety and availability of blood can be assured.
WHA Group’s mobile vaccination clinic provides the elderly with immunization during the rainy season, when their immune system can be most vulnerable. Hundreds of doses of the influenza vaccine are purchased by WHA Group, and administered to the community’s senior citizens. This preventive health service has been successful because they can lower the risk of serious illness, disability and hospitalization. This is also an opportunity for medical practitioners to give advice to the people on how to maintain their good health and general well-being. This year, WHA Group provided 400 doses of the influenza vaccine for the elderly villagers of Khao Kansong Sub-District, Chonburi.
“Health and happiness go hand in hand, so we should take care of ourselves and help our neighbors who are unable to do so. As a community, we are responsible for each other,” said Ms. Siyaphas Chantachairoj, Director - Corporate Marketing of WHA Corporation PCL. “Health allows us to live our lives to the fullest, and it contributes greatly to our happiness. We organize these mobile medical units as part of our commitment to help improve the lives of the families in a sustainable way.”
