WHA Group Continues Ongoing CSR Support for Green and Clean Initiatives
14/09/2020Through its various CSR initiatives, WHA Group continues to address a range of social and environmental issues affecting the happiness and well-being of residents in neighboring communities. During the month of August, the CSR team was busy responding to various needs through activities and donations to encourage social interaction and help uplift the community.
Green efforts
Just in time for Mother’s Day, WHA Industrial Development participated in a reforestation project with community volunteers to plant 200 saplings of indigenous trees such as afzelia xylocarpa, lamduan, and mahogany at a tropical forest in Bo Win Sub-District. Students of Ban Khao Hin School in Chonburi were invited so they could learn the importance of trees to the ecosystem and the impact of climate change on daily life. Aside from offering shade, healthy trees provide oxygen and minimize carbon in the air, while providing food and shelter for wildlife, and maintaining favorable water and soil conditions.
Another activity on the green agenda was teaching children about recycling and practicing an environment-friendly lifestyle. The WHA team delivered color-coded trash bins to the Ban Phan Sadet Nok School in Sri Racha, Chonburi, and explained to the students the concept of sorting and recycling to keep our planet clean. The young students participated in interesting discussions on how to sort waste materials and listened to suggestions and tips concerning waste reduction and reuse. Sharing the importance of doing good deeds for nature and the environment can start at a very young age.
Health is wealth
With the opening of classes for the new school year, another CSR project that is helping the community members is the distribution of alcohol and sanitary face masks to protect schoolchildren from the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The team visited elementary schools such as Chumchon Borisat Namtal Tawanaok School in Rayong’s Pluak Daeng, and explained the correct use of masks and gels and the importance of observing strict health protocols.
WHA also delivered touch-free hand sanitizer dispensers to Ban Khao Hin School (Nikorn Rat Bamrung) in Sri Racha District and Ban Khlong Kram School in Pluak Daeng District. These dispensers supply a premeasured amount to help prevent waste and are placed in high-traffic areas to remind the children to sanitize their hands frequently.
“We try to engage our community members so they can live healthier, happier and better lives,” said Ms. Siyaphas Chantachairoj, Director – Corporate Marketing, WHA Corporation PCL. “We listen to their needs and create activities for community-building. Our CSR activities are practical and socially-relevant, and at the same time, educational. Our aim is to give back to society through a diverse range of proactive initiatives, and to maintain clear and open communication with the community.”
