Caterpillar Purchases Another 138 Rai in Hemaraj RIL

Caterpillar Inc. – the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment and a Fortune 500 company – recently signed a second contract within 6 month period, with Hemaraj Land And Development Plc., to purchase land of 138 rai in Hemaraj Rayong Industrial Land (Hemaraj RIL). Scheduled to begin production in late-2013, the new 40,000-square-meter factory will produce Caterpillar Medium Tractors for customers around the world and will increase the global production to respond to the growth in demand. Once in full operation the factory is expected to employ about 900 people.

In January this year, Caterpillar had purchased 140 rai in Hemaraj RIL for its first manufacturing facility in Thailand to produce a full range of underground mining articulated trucks and loaders. Construction of the plant is now underway and production is expected to start in late-2012.
