TrelleborgVibracoustic expands into Thailand

08/10/2014

Darmstadt, Germany, 8 October, 2014. TrelleborgVibracoustic, the world's leading automotive supplier for anti-vibration solutions, is expanding its global presence with a new production site in Thailand. Starting in the second quarter of 2015, engine mounts, chassis components, and dampers will be produced at the site in Rayong.

The new facility is located in Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, Rayong province, established by Hemaraj Land And Development Plc., one of the leading industrial estate developers in Thailand. The new production of TrelleborgVibracoustic is close to Ford and Suzuki and other OEMs. Over the coming years, around 200 employees will produce chassis components, engine mounts, and dampers for local customers.

Customer proximity, logistical connections, and the availability of qualified employees were the key criteria for choosing the location. The production area of 3,900sqm can be further extended by another 2,000sqm. “With the new production site in Rayong, TrelleborgVibracoustic is strengthening its international presence in one of the most important growth markets in the world,” explains Hans-Jürgen Goslar, CEO of TrelleborgVibracoustic, the decision for the new site.

“The location we have chosen gives us the best conditions to serve our customers in Thailand directly. Customers will also save in terms of logistics costs, tax, and import duties thanks to this investment" adds Dr. Matthias Sckuhr, regional president for China/Asia-Pacific.

The site is the company's 39th in the world and represents the first operation of a western supplier for automotive anti-vibration solutions in Thailand. By improved direct links to locally producing manufacturers, the TrelleborgVibracoustic expects to achieve further growth in that region. The Thai automotive industry is developing rapidly, according to the findings of a study undertaken by the Asia Connect Center at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. With around 2.5 million vehicles produced in 2013, it is the ninth largest vehicle-producing nation in the world.

TrelleborgVibracoustic is the leading provider of anti-vibration solutions for the global automotive and commercial vehicle industries. Founded as a joint venture by Freudenberg and Trelleborg in 2012, the company generated sales of approximately 1.7 billion Euro in 2013. TrelleborgVibracoustic has around 10,000 employees at 39 locations in 19 countries who develop and produce powertrain and chassis components for automotive vibration control.
