For WHA Corporation PCL, cultivating a healthy and successful relationship with the community is one of its top priorities. Education is an important factor in the development of the community because it prepares its members with knowledge and skills that will enable them to find good employment and make their own contributions to society in the future.
WHA Group’s Annual School Contribution Program is one of the pet projects of the company, which gets the full support of the employees, management and customers from the different industrial estates. Before the start of each school year, WHA Group earmarks special funds to support education-related programs and projects to ensure that the needs of the schoolchildren in the neighboring communities are met.
This year, WHA Group marks the 21st year of this uplifting project. Spearheaded by the Group’s Corporate Marketing Department, volunteers package general supplies such as notebooks, stationary, and distribute practical and sturdy backpacks to the children. Last June, a total of 18,700 students in 69 schools around the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate (Rayong), WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 1, 2 & 4, WHA Eastern Industrial Estate (Map Ta Phut), WHA Chonburi Industrial Estate 1&2 and WHA Rayong Industrial Land benefitted from which are located in EEC area (Chonburi and Rayong provinces).
WHA Group’s Annual School Contribution Program supports not just the academic section of the schools, but also the sporting and cultural activities. Other items included in the donation are sporting equipment, such as footballs and basketballs, that children use to learn and enjoy sports and other physical activities. This is also an essential part of education that can help the youth in their overall development. Art materials such as drawing books, crayons and coloring pencils are also distributed, so that creativity and innovative thinking are also encouraged at all times.
“The Annual School Contribution Program has proven to be a truly positive way of reaching out to the right people with contributions that make a difference and bringing a community together,” said Mr. David Nardone, Group Executive Industrial and International, WHA Industrial Development Plc. “Aside from providing the fundamental tools needed to learn effectively, it also brings cheers and hope to the children who all dream of a brighter future.”
“Many schoolchildren come from families that are struggling, and parents are unable to provide the basic school supplies their children need to be effective. Unfortunately, schools lack the funding to purchase the necessary supplies,” explained Ms. Siyaphas Chantachairoj, WHA Director, Corporate Marketing. “Through the Annual School Contribution Program that was started in 1997, we provide them with the tools they need at the beginning of each school year to ensure success. It gives us great pride to support our students, teachers and schools in this project for the betterment of our neighboring communities.”
